Our last day in Sydney was again…epic. We fell in love with you Sydney. You are beautiful, special, glamorous, wild, spectacular… sophisticated…artistic and sunny…and more importantly….full of youth by the sea.
We woke up and followed our morning routine, starting with a nice swim at the pool to exercise a bit and grow some hunger in our stomachs. Thereafter, we headed towards the botanical gardens to do some ‘activity play/homeschooling’ with Valen and Carlos.
We stopped by to meet some beautiful white cockatoos with yellow crests that played with the boys’ shoes.
The gardens are astonishingly beautiful – very green, with lush foliage and full of fragrant flowers. We crossed the gardens and walked towards Ms. Macquarie’s point to gain a new perspective of the Opera House and the city.
We spent a bit of time by a very beautiful tree doing some ‘home schooling’…
Afterwards, we headed back to Wharf #3 at the Quay to board a ferry towards Manly. It is my kind of town. A vibrant surfer’s paradise in the city. A bohemian yet chic suburb in the outskirts, famous for its Shelly beach and blond surfers. We had a good barramundi and sword fish at a nice cafe by the beachside and afterwards the kids chased seagulls and played in the park.
Carlos in particular fell in love with his new pair of shoes which we got for him there to replace the ones he destroyed when he fell in a public fountain a couple of days earlier when he was jumping around…..
We caught the 445pm ferry almost miraculously to get on time to see Aida, live, unedited, by the gardens in front of the Opera House.
It was a great way to finish our staying in Sydney. We took Carlos and Valen to Verdi’s Aida, at the Sydney Harbor in which was a magical night….and of course, they ended up falling asleep in our arms but it was worthwhile. We will always remember this experience!
The next morning, we waved goodbye to our friends at the hotel and promised to come back, remembering their great candid and warm hospitality. Both David and Zafras made an amazing impression in our hearts.
After a short flight, we arrived in Melbourne to crash into our friends’ place, to enjoy them and have Valen and Carlos play with their kids and start the second leg of our adventure.
